About Lexus

During the 1980s, many of the Japanese automakers were establishing a luxury sub-brand to take advantage of the lucrative American market.

Toyota, Nissan and Honda all undertook these new ventures with their new brands Lexus, Infiniti and Acura respectively.

This section of TowingCapa.city focuses on Lexus, Toyota’s offering with many lines being spawned over the decades since its launch.

Underneath these models, you will find many of the same components and technologies offered by its parent company.

The main difference though is that the Lexus models come with many more features as standard with a higher quality luxury finish inside and out.

In 1989 the first Lexus model rolled off the production line, it was called the LS and unlike most of the rest of the models to come from the company didn’t actually share anything with any previous Toyota lines.

It was a full-size luxury car that competed with the BMW 7-Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class but with a much lower price point – offering amazing value for money at the time.

Next up was the ES, a model that was based on the Toyota Camry – a line that continues to this day and offers an affordable route to owning a Lexus.

In recent decades Lexus has begun pushing out many SUV lines to keep up with the exploding demand the sector of the auto market is seeing.
