The Lexus RX is a series of crossover SUVs that have been manufactured by Toyota’s luxury division since 1997. During this time, there have been five generations in total, with the latest version being released in 2022.

It has a 5-door door SUV layout with either front-wheel or Direct4 all-wheel drive depending on the trim chosen.

It shares a number of similarities with the Toyota Highlander, which is to be expected as a product of the Toyota division. Some of the main rivals for the RX are the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Class, two other luxury compact crossovers.

Trim levels are influenced heavily by the engine selected and even the region sold. Currently, there are four grades available for the RX, the 350, 350h, 450h+, and 500h F Sport.

The latest 450h version is offered with base Premium, followed by Premium Sport Edition, F SPORT, and Takumi for the United Kingdom versions. In Europe, there is the base Eco, followed by Comfort, Executive, F SPORT, and Luxury.

Engine options are broken down for the three grades. For older models, the entry-level versions typically offer a turbocharged inline-4 in excess of 2-liter, the mid-tier has a 3.5-liter V6, and the top-tier grades have a 3.5-liter V6 with hybrid technology.

Lexus reduced the size of available engines in the latest generation and limited them to a turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-4.

There has not yet been a diesel variant released.

The RX has featured hybrid technology for nearly 20 years. This technology made its debut in the second generation in 2003. It has usually come in the form of plug-in technology and is almost exclusively reserved for the highest grade models like the 450h.
