The Swift is a supermini classed car manufactured by the Japanese company Suzuki. In terms of size, the Swift sits neatly between the Ignis and the Baleno and came to market in 2000.

This model was intended to replace the Cultus, and like it, both models had a 1.3-liter and 1.5-liter engine option coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic. Other options were front or four-wheel drive with 3 or 4 doors (although in most countries, the later models only had 5 doors).

A first-generation debuted at the Paris Motor Show and was created with emphasis placed on making the Swift a sporty compact car rather than keeping the price point low. Ultimately, the car scored 4 stars out of a possible 5 for safety on the Euro NCAP rating system. A popular marketing campaign led by Cristiano Ronaldo aided in sales.

The second-generation (2010) was manufactured at the Assembly plant in Hungary and supplied the whole of Europe. The new models had a longer wheelbase than their predecessors by 50 mm, had a 1.2-liter engine and a modernized aesthetic.

Following a slight facelift in 2013 (changes made to the front bumpers and L-Shaped LED daytime running lights) the third generation was unveiled in Japan on the 27th of December 2016. Built on the HEARTECT platform (shared with the Baleno and Ignis), the updated version was 10 % lighter than its predecessor and the decision was made to drop the three-door option. Despite the Swift having 5 doors, it has the appearance of a 3 door due to hidden rear door handles.

Safety packages included forward-facing cameras, auto emergency braking, laser sensors for lane departure warning and high beam assist.
