The Genesis GV70 is a compact crossover SUV that has been manufactured by Genesis, a luxury division under Hyundai, since 2020. It is considered to be the smaller version of the GV80 and the larger version of the GV60. There has only been one generation of this crossover so far.

As a luxury crossover SUV, the Genesis GV70 goes up against a number of rivals, particularly the big German manufacturers. The majority of its competition comes from the Audi Q5, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, and the Porsche Macan. Outside of Germany, the Jaguar F-Pace also comes into the competition.

The GV70 features a 5-door configuration, typical to most SUVs. It is built on the Hyundai Kia M3 platform.

Powertrains for the GV70 include a variety of Hyundai’s Smartstream engines. Available options include the G2.5 T-GDi and G3.5 T-GDi petrol engines. There is also a D2.2 CRDi diesel option available.

All examples of this car are outfitted with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. These powertrains come with options for either rear-wheel or four-wheel drive.

Genesis has also released an electric version called the Electrified GV70 that is powered by a 77.4 kWh battery and features an all-wheel drive courtesy of a dual motor setup. These are powered by two permanent magnet synchronous motors.

Genesis claims that the Electrified version charges from 10 to 80% in only 18 minutes with a charger with a rating of 350 kW.

The GV70 has been critically acclaimed so far and was awarded the 2022 Motor Trend SUV of the Year.

Typical towing capacity for the GV70 is 2200 kg / ~ 4,850 lbs.
