About Hyundai

The Hyundai parent company has been in existence since the 1940s but they only began producing automobiles in 1967.

They began by producing licensed Ford models such as the Cortina while learning about the development of the automobile at the same time.

To design their first model they hired a seasoned expert who had worked at the automaker British Leyland.

This first model was called the Pony and was also the first car produced by a Korean company.

It was exported to Canada where it did well as a low-cost alternative to American cars – it didn’t make it to the American market because of stricter emission controls.

By 1985 the company was doing amazing with over a million models sold in that year alone.

Hyundai managed to break into America in 1986 which opened up a huge new market for them and allowed them to invest in their own technologies.

In the later part of the 1990s, they bought out Kia, a struggling South Korean automaker and merge the two together while operating each brand going forward.

In recent years the two brands produce many of the same lines with the same components and technology such as the Accent and the Palisade.

To take on the luxury cars market Hyundai launched Genesis, a brand that was built from a popular model of theirs.
