The Ford Transit is a series of small commercial vans and vehicles that have been in production by Ford since 1965. It is easily one of the most iconic and recognizable vans in the world due to its immense popularity.

The Transit is one of the best-selling vans ever. In fact, it has been the best-selling light commercial vehicle in Europe for the past 40 years.

There have been four generations of the various versions of this van with the fourth being released in 2013.

The Transit comes in a number of different variations. The most notable of these are the regular Ford Transit van, the Transit Custom, the Transit Connect, and the Transit Courier.

The Custom comes with a huge number of available variations in comparison to the regular version. The Transit Connect is often considered the middle ground between the full-size Transit and the smaller Transit Courier. Finally, the Transit Courier is the smallest variant, designed with the goal of having the driving feel of a regular car.

Trim levels for the Transit are surprisingly extensive for a commercial vehicle. These are the Leader, Trend, Limited, Active, Sport, and finally Trail. However, some of these are specific to the Transit Custom.

Modern powertrain options for the Ford Transit include petrol engines that range from the smaller 2-liter EcoBoost inline-4 and the 3.7-liter Ti-VCT V6.

Diesel options have varied from the 2-liter EcoBlue TDCi inline-4 to the 3.2-liter Duratorq TDCi inline-4.

Engine options for the Transit change greatly depending on the market in which it is being sold.

Ford revealed the E-Transit in 2021. This 2022 model of the Transit is a fully-electric version of the iconic van. There have also been some mild-hybrid options of the van too. These are outfitted with an EcoBoost Hybrid mHEV.
