About Dodge

When the Dodge brothers launched their manufacturing company in the early part of the 1900s they started out by providing parts to Ford and other local automakers.

After several of the brothers passed away during the Spanish Flu epidemic the company limped on until being bought out by Chrysler in 1928.

Chrysler operated the brand as their mid-range offering until the global recession of 2008 forced American automakers to rethink their strategies.

Going forward Dodge scaled back the affordable lackluster model lines and instead focused on high-performance lines instead.

At this time the auto market was also shifting away from traditional sedans and toward crossover SUVs.

This meant that many models were dropped such as the Caliber and the Neon due to reduced demand and focus was given to the Durango, Challenger and the Charger instead.

Several lines were spun off into their own brands too such as the Viper and the Ram which became the RAM Pickup.
